Here at Patchwork Hub, we believe it’s important to share the work of organisations promoting inclusive recruitment and candidate empowerment. Continuing our Company Corner series, we recently caught up with Banu Ali from Niya. Niya’s Diversity Recruitment Platform connects underrepresented tech/data talent with global employment opportunities. From refugees and migrants through to ethnic minorities, Niya is determined to find tech and data roles to support underrepresented individuals.

What is Niya’s Diversity Recruitment Platform?

Niya's Diversity Recruitment Platform connects underrepresented tech/data talent with global job opportunities. We support a range of individuals to find roles at top companies that prioritise diversity and inclusion. These include refugees and migrants, ethnic minorities, women, LGBTQ+, neurodivergent and physically disabled people. Our community offers free access to global tech/data jobs, events, networks and training opportunities. We empower candidates to pursue a long and fulfilling career in the tech industry.

What are Niya’s main aims and mission?

Mission: We have pledged to create a truly inclusive tech industry by supporting 1 million underrepresented candidates into tech jobs over the next 10 years.

Vision: To create a future of work that is diverse and equitable, where your background is not a barrier to opportunity.

Why is accessibility, disability inclusion or remote/flexible working important to your company?

Flexible/remote hiring is imperative in the modern, globalised world. At Niya, we serve candidates in over 35 countries. We want to make it as easy as possible for them to connect with fulfilling tech and data job opportunities regardless of their background and location. We advocate working systems that promote social mobility, inclusion and diversity, by empowering organisations to hire hidden and untapped talent.

Does your company have a mantra or motto?

Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not.

What do you think is the biggest challenge your industry will face in the next 5 years?

Keeping up with global demand and trends in digital transformation.
